Foundable vs Zapier Agents: an employee who runs the business, or agents you build for your apps
- Published
Foundable publishes this comparison and is one of the two products in it, so read it as our view. Every fact about Zapier below comes from Zapier's own pages, read on November 3, 2026, and linked where it appears; check them, since they change. The short version: Zapier Agents are AI teammates you build yourself to do one job across the apps your business already uses. Foundable gives you Ted, an AI employee who builds the business's website and runs its marketing without you writing the instructions for each task.
What each one is
Zapier Agents let you "build AI teammates" that "do work across 9,000+ apps — on command and while you sleep": you describe what should start an agent, what it should do and which apps it should use, connect those apps, and publish it (build an agent). Zapier is moving Agents into AI by Zapier, a step inside its workflows, and "has not set a date to turn off Agents yet" (the move).
Foundable gives you Ted, your AI employee. You tell him the idea; he builds the website, takes payments through a Stripe account in your name, writes posts and emails, and, when you start Run, runs the business on his own in the background, doing the next most useful thing again and again while you see what he is doing and thinking.
The differences that matter
| Foundable | Zapier Agents | |
|---|---|---|
| What you set up | Your idea or your business; Ted works out what to do next. | Each agent's instructions, trigger, apps and knowledge, one agent per job. |
| What it works on | The whole business: website, customers, posts, emails and payments. | The apps you connect: drafting support replies, enriching leads, writing articles, sorting data. |
| Your website | Ted builds and publishes it and takes payments on it. | Not part of Agents; its pages describe no website building. |
| What happens without you | Nothing goes out by default: emails, posts and website changes wait for your approval. Switching Run to On its own lets Ted send and publish them himself. | A published agent acts on its trigger; to make it stop for your approval, you write that into its instructions (approval steps). |
| Price | Free to start; paid plans on the pricing page. | Free with 400 activities a month; Pro with 1,500 (how usage is measured); prices on Zapier's pricing page. |
How Foundable does the work
- Ted is the one you talk to, in the app or by text from your phone. He turns the idea into a short plan: the customer, the offer and the first thing worth testing.
- Build makes the website, shows you a live preview, keeps every version and publishes it.
- Run is Ted running the business: improving the site, finding customers, writing and sending the posts and emails, and writing up what he learns.
- Payments puts Buy buttons on your site that take payments through your own Stripe account.
Everything Ted does is recorded, so you can see what he did and why, and stop a run at any time.
When Zapier Agents is the better choice
Choose Zapier if your business already runs on many apps and you want a defined job done between them the same way every time: a form lead researched and posted to Slack, a support reply drafted from your help articles, a spreadsheet kept tidy. You decide each trigger and tool, and Zapier connects to more than 9,000 apps.
When Foundable is the better choice
Choose Foundable if you want the business itself built and run, not a set of automations to design: Ted makes the website, takes payments into your own Stripe account and works on the marketing without being told each step. It suits someone with an idea and no systems yet as much as a business that is already selling.
Questions
Is Foundable a Zapier Agents alternative?
For running a small business, yes: both let AI do the work while you are away. Zapier gives you agents to build for jobs you define across your apps; Foundable gives you Ted, who decides the next useful thing for the business and builds its website too.
Can I use both?
Yes. Zapier connects apps; Foundable runs the business and connects the accounts it works in, such as Stripe and your social accounts. Nothing stops you automating your other apps with Zapier alongside.
Do Zapier Agents ask before they act?
Only where you tell them to. Zapier's help center says to write the approval step into an agent's instructions, and the agent then waits for your answer in a messaging app. In Foundable, emails, posts and website changes wait for your approval until you switch Run to On its own.
